Our company was founded by Sylvia Rapke in 1995, trading as German Placement Specialists and was later relaunched as AKA Recruitment International Pty Ltd in 2013. That same year, Koenigsteiner Agentur GmbH (www.koenigsteiner-agentur.de) became a shareholder in AKA Recruitment International. With nine offices across Germany, Koenigsteiner Agentur GmbH specialises in HR Marketing, Advert Management and HR Services. Through close cooperation, AKA Recruitment International is able to benefit from the great expertise and network of Koenigsteiner Agentur, assisting them in growing their European/ Foreign language procurement channels and thus facilitating the attracting, sourcing and placing of suitable staff from Europe in South Africa.
As a member of APSO (Association of Personnel Service Organisations) AKA Recruitment International adheres to the national standard of professional conduct and is kept fully abreast with rapidly changing labour legislation and practice.
Esther is the owner of AKA Recruitment International since 2013, she was made Partner in 2010 and started out as a Consultant in June 2009. She was born in Koblenz, Germany, and moved to SA in 1998; she completed her studies at UCT (Bachelor of Psychology Honours and Organisational Psychology Honours). Thereafter, Esther joined a German BPO in Cape Town as Recruitment Manager, from where she moved to AKA. Here she is able to combine her passion for people with a keen interest in matching high caliber candidates with suitable client companies. Esther and her team are excited to be working with you in the near future.
HR & Marketing Manager
Joanne is currently fulfilling the role of HR & Marketing Manager and joined the team as a Recruitment Consultant in November 2014. Born in Tsumeb, Namibia and raised in Cape Town; she finished her schooling in Paarl and soon after, joined the corporate world. She worked her way up from an entry level position and now, after 15 years, has experience in Guest House Management, Operational Call Centre Management as well as Projects, HR and Recruitment Management. After taking some time off to take care for her two children, she is thrilled to be back in the industry and part of the AKA team.
Amy Joy Raymond
Amy joined the team in January 2015. Born and raised in Cape Town; she has successfully completed both her undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Industrial Psychology at the University of the Western Cape . Her specific interests lie in recruitment, training, organisational development and assessments. Amy is passionate about the recruitment industry and believes it plays a pivotal role in the success of any organisation. She is extremely excited about contributing in offering quality service that supports the continued success and growth of AKA.
Jaime joined the team in October 2015 as a Recruitment Consultant. Born in Cape Town, she completed her National Diploma in Travel and Tourism and decided to study further in the HR field where she subsequently obtained her Bachelor of Technology degree in Human Resource Development. She has previously worked as a Sales Consultant and later as a Travel Consultant, where she specialised in offering various programs to individuals interested in working and studying abroad. Jaime’s decision to focus more on her HR qualification and skills led her to AKA Recruitment International and we are very happy to have her as a part of our team.
Katharina joined the team in May 2016 after she relocated from Cologne, Germany. As an Event Manager with work experience in international corporate communication she decided to follow her passion for people and other cultures by studying Psychology with a focus on Intercultural and Organizational Psychology. Her experiences led her to AKA Recruitment International where Katharina can now combine all of her passions as a Recruitment Consultant. She pursues to find the right match for the candidates and the clients by always having the big picture in mind and looking for the perfect match between requirements and a culture fit. As a certified trainer for intercultural competencies she can also assist multi-ethnic teams and candidates from all over the globe to understand each other and improve company’s workflow. Diversity is simply a wealth of resources!
Anne joined the AKA Recruitment International team as a Recruitment Consultant in May 2016. She was born in Germany where she obtained her IHK Certificate (German Chamber of Commerce) as a qualified Financial Office Administrator. After working in the Insurance Industry for a world-renowned Swiss-German insurer for 5 years, Anne decided to move to Cape Town in 2007 after coming to South Africa on holiday for 4 consecutive years. She gained invaluable experience in South African immigration and German citizenship (ancestral) law while working for a niche German law firm in Cape Town for 7 years. Anne enjoys people interaction and is excited by the prospect of assisting individuals in finding their ideal placements.
Ashley de Voss
Ashley gained a wealth of recruitment experience in both domestic and international recruitment, prior to joining the AKA Recruitment Team in April 2017, where he provided young professionals and students a chance at gaining their first steps in the professional working world. Ashley was born and raised in Cape town and travelled around South Africa while working in the hospitality sector. Ashley initially worked in the gaming and hospitality industry, which led him to a management role in hotel operations at a 5 star resort, before changing his career path to the HR and recruitment industry, because of his passion for people and their individual career growth. He is excited to be joining the AKA team!
Rebeka joined the team in October 2016. Born in Congo, she relocated to Johannesburg with her family and moved to Cape town where she was raised since a small child; She successfully completed her undergraduate degree in BAdministration at the University of the Western Cape. Her specific interests lie in administration and management. Rebeka is passionate about the recruitment industry and believes that administration plays a big role in this business, without monitoring and organising, it will not function in a perfect sequence. She is happy to be part of a growing work environment and the team!
